Pen Drives
What Is A Pen Drive? Basically, the pen drive is just another name for the compact flash card. It's a removable hard disk drive with a USB connection, and it can support far more memory than a floppy disk. The pen drive is a plug and play device. All you have to do is plug into any USB port, and the computer will automatically detect it as another removable drive. You can move data to the pen drive from your hard disc, or vice versa, and you can even play MP3 files, run applications, or view videos directly from the pen drive. Pen Drive Assets CNET reports that "since these compact flash drives were first introduced, both hardware and software innovations as well as add-ons have made them more useful than ever before. Simple accessories, such as keychain attachments and clips, have increased their portability. Furthermore, security software and write-protection switches safeguard your data from unauthorized access or accidental overwrites." Low Cost Pen Drive For no-frills removable storage, CNET recommends we "check out the Dioneer USB Memory drive. The compact drive sports some of the smallest price tags to date for a USB flash drive for all its different capacities: 16MB ($36), 32MB ($45), 64MB ($72), 128MB ($121), and 256MB ($198). The Dioneer has a no-nonsense rectangular design and a matte-black finish. It also comes with a USB extension cord. But the device is otherwise pretty bare. It offers no password protection, write protection, or bundled utilities. Though the included manual covers installation, it lacks even a rudimentary troubleshooting section. If you run into problems with this compact flash device, you can call tech support. The EasyDisk or the Trek ThumbDrive Secure are more complete keychain drives, but the Dioneer USB Memory drive offers plenty of megabytes for the money."
