"Sony has its own Memory Stick format, but keychain USB flash drives proved impossible to resist.  The compact Micro Vault comes in 16MB ($49), 32MB ($69), 64MB ($99), and 128MB ($149) capacities, each of which sports a different color so that it's easy to tell them apart.  The sleek, curvaceous drive is so small that it fits easily in any pocket.  But unlike other USB flash drives, the Sony doesn't have a key ring or a shirt-clip attachment, which makes it a little easier to misplace. 

The Micro Vault is compatible with Windows 98, 2000, Me, and XP, as well as Mac OS 9 and higher, but if you're running Windows 98, you'll have to install software drivers to run this compact flash memory device.  You can configure a portion of the drive as either Public (open for all eyes to see) or Secure (password protected).  Unfortunately, password protection works with only Windows 2000 and XP.

A one-year warranty covers wear and tear on the unit, and Sony's 24-hour toll-free tech support and documentation leave the offerings for most other USB flash drives in the dust.  Sony's website has a lot of info for the Micro Vault, such as features, basic operation, troubleshooting, and downloads.  You'll pay a little extra for the slick, compact design of the Micro Vault, but as long as you're using Windows XP or 2000, it's a compelling choice."
